Gracie was the queen of the household for almost 16 years. She welcomed many foster and rescue dogs to our home over the years and trained them well. It seems impossible that she not here with me now because I feel like she always has been here with me. I am going to continue to keep her close as long as she’ll have me…..
One of my favorite memories of Gracie was when we were hiking up Mt. Philo one wintery morning. A gang of sledders surprised us as they came around the corner and Gracie, who was not yet a year old and had never seen such a thing, bolted down the mountain. John and I made chase but we were slow moving on the slippery road underfoot. Finally making it to the bottom, we spotted little Gracie. She was perched on the roof of one of the cars in the Mt. Philo parking lot waiting for us. She wasn’t taking any chances just then with more ground travel.
Everyone should be blessed by the love of a dog like Gracie. May her memory be a blessing……
