Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is one of the most challenging moments we face as pet owners. It’s a time filled with deep emotion, love, and often, heartbreak. At our clinic, we understand how important it is to honor your pet’s memory in a meaningful way. This is why we offer the option to create a lasting keepsake in the form of a paw print during your euthanasia appointment.
A paw print is more than just an impression; it’s a symbol of the love, joy, and companionship your cat or dog brought into your life. Holding that small imprint in your hand can bring comfort in the days, weeks, and years after your loss as a tangible reminder of the bond you shared.
We offer three unique types of paw prints to help you choose the one that best suits your needs and preferences:
1. Shadow Box Impression Pad (Complimentary)
This is our most popular option, and one we provide complimentary with every euthanasia appointment. The impression is made using a soft, non-clay material and is set into a beautiful shadow box with space for a cherished photo of your pet. It’s perfect for displaying at home as a heartfelt tribute to your companion. Additional shadow box prints can be made upon request for a small fee, allowing other family members to have a keepsake of their own.
2. Ink Paw Print
For those looking for incredible detail, our ink paw prints are a wonderful choice. These prints capture the unique lines and patterns of your pet’s paw, making them ideal for turning into memorial tattoos or custom artwork. This option is available at an additional charge and can be a deeply personal way to carry a piece of your pet with you at all times.
3. Clay Paw Print
If you prefer a hands-on, personal touch, our clay paw prints may be the right choice. Our veterinarian will gently press your pet’s paw into soft clay and then leave it with you after the appointment, along with baking instructions. This allows you to be part of the finishing process, turning it into a shared memory and a final act of care and love.
Each paw print is a small but powerful way to honor your pet’s life. Whether placed on a mantel, worn as a tattoo, or simply held close, these keepsakes remind us that while our pets may be gone, their paw prints remain forever on our hearts.
